Teaser[]

Tsukimi visits Shuu at work during his lunch break to deliver the dress he secretly ordered. He asks for her answer to his letter.

Summary[]

Lina pressing for the dress's delivery prompts Shuu to call Tsukimi. Tsukimi offers to bring it to him wherever he is. So Shuu to invites her to lunch, and asks to get her response to his letter while she's there.

Nisha and the Amars were eavesdropping and fret over what Tsukimi can wear, as the only clothes they have are too fancy or too simple. Hanamori arrives and insists on taking Tsukimi right away so as not to get a parking ticket or miss Shuu's lunch break. Jiji is stripped and Tsukimi put in her clothes.

Alone, Kuranosuke thinks of himself as the the sorcerer who turned Tsukimi into a princess for someone else, and resolves that it's best for all to remain at her side as co-founder of the brand.

Tsukimi is overwhelmed to realize she's at the National Diet Building and wishes Kuranosuke were there to transform her into someone worthy. The fact that Shuu is eating with her despite her shabbiness warms her heart, but they get interrupted by Shuu's uncle. Shuu escapes quickly with her and is charmed by Tsukimi's awe of the building's design and tells her to invite the Amars for a tour. She beams, excited at how happy that would make Chieko and Jiji, and Shuu is moved to ask for her answer.

Tsukimi almost petrifies but still can't move or speak.

"How about this?," Shuu suggests. "Nod for yes, shake your head for no. Tsukimi, please enter into a relationship with me that leads to marriage."

Tsukimi nervously gives a tiny nod.

Lunch break is over; Shuu is elated until a call from Lina makes him realize he doesn't have the dress. Lina says the dress will have to be personally delivered to reach her on time, and Shuu resolves to go himself so that Lina can help him pick out an engagement ring.

Quotes[]

Trivia[]

  • The chapter title comes from the 2010 movie "The Sorcerer's Apprentice."
  • There is some confusion on the translation of this title, as the kanji used for "apprentice" can also mean "junior" when mentioning a brother. The manga chapter has Kuranosuke metaphorically as the sorcerer and Shuu, his older brother, is his junior in matters of romantic relationships. The pun from the kanji by putting the word "brother" after the word for "apprentice/junior" makes this difficult to translate into English. Regardless, "Sorcerer's Little Brother" might be a word-for-word way of reading it, but is not accurate in terms of plot, nor quite in keeping with the chapter title concepts of the manga. Kodansha, who has excellent translators on staff, will be the final word on the translation once Volume 10 reaches English publication.
