Teaser[]

Kai reflects on character-changing moments from his childhood in the orphanage.

Summary[]

Kai remembers the history behind the white shirt. Yang, the boy who was adopted after wearing one, had gotten it out of the trash in a rich neighbourhood. Hwa-Young, who had been hoping for a new doll, saw the toy in a trash bag while she and Kai were out distributing flyers for the orphanage's bazaar. They grabbed the bags, and since the clothes were all women's decided to sell them at the bazaar claiming that they were donations. A few bazaars later, they got caught when someone recognized her family's trash for sale. Kai then removed labels and made new ones, choosing to put the English letter F on them to represent Hwa-Young (alternate spelling is Fayon). Kai knew that changing fashions would make the rich keep throwing out clothes—which to him meant that all they ever wear is trash. In the current timeline, Kai says to burn last year's high end stock rather than letting it go to an outlet.
